happy new yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

hey friends!

i know it’s a little bit late…but my new years resolution was “even if it’s too late to blog about something…you still should”

(it actually wasn’t.)

so in keeping with that…here i am wishing you a happy new year on behalf of everyone here at team chic gamine!

we hope that this year you:
feel love, feel happiness, feel good feelings, dance your face off, sing your heart out, eat lots of good food…(but we do not support gluttony…we support happiness!)

but most of all like paul simon so articulately puts it…we hope you “have a good time baby…have a good time child…have a good time baby…have a good time.”

As for news with us…..we’ll be back on the road in only a few short weeks coming to a small canadian venue near you! (if you are near one of them)

Then we’re back to winnipeg, manitoba for the festival du voyageur!!

we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the future goings on so keep checking back here and also keep checking our youtube page (www.youtube.com/chicgamine) for road reports/live foot-age!!

we choo choo choose you this year as our favorite fans.

love,
alexa

Chic Gamine performs their Montreal début this February!

Montreal – After touring the continent over the last year, Winnipeg/Montreal-based Chic Gamine performs at La Tulipe on Tuesday February 10th, at 8pm. Comprised of former members of little boy boom, Gaïa and Madrigaïa, the group will showcase original songs from their self-titled debut album, released in June of 2008. Armed with their impish and sometimes downright peculiar brand of humor, these Chic Gamines possess the ability to effortlessly charm an audience… And the whole show will be liberally doused with the most total, sibylline insouciance they are becoming known for…

About Chic Gamine:

Born in 2007, Chic Gamine is made up of the 5 « A » : singers Ariane Jean, Andrina Turenne, Alexa Dirks, Annick Brémault and drummer/percussionist Alexandre Sacha Daoud.

In Chic Gamine, four-part harmony is redefined and refreshed: with a solo percussionist as their main musical support, they use their voices as instruments, effortlessly launching into intricate string arrangements, bass-heavy rhythm sections and lush harmonies, reminiscent of the 50’s and 60’s. Performance highlights include the California World Music Festival, the California Strawberry Folk Music Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival and being chosen to open for Motown legend, Smokey Robinson, at the Festival at Sandpoint, Idaho.
