up up and away.
hey friends,
chic gamine here…a person on behalf of the unit actually.
SOOOO theres been some stuff going on called:
we were at the olympics at the end of February and had a kick donkey time.
I’m still kind of picking up the pieces of my brain from the experience. Some of them will forever be left in “Vancouver 2010″ or lost in the “I believe” theme song horn section that played whenever anything good or bad or inbetween happened…i still hear that song when i wake up in the morning.
Once we returned home we hopped right back on the road…played some really fun canadian dates…and then hopped right back to montreal (where we are currently) to continue working on our next album…currently…untitled.
BUTTT lest we forget the life and love that was the olympics…i would like to recap this fun for you…now.
(ALSO I JUST POSTED SOME NEW PICTURES IN THE “on the road” and “on the stage” section…so check that out…MORE NEW PICTURES TO COME as well.)
SOOO as i was saying the energy was crazy out there and we made a lot of new friends/saw real gold medals/also saw the people with white gloves that guard them.
it was high tech stuff over there.
suffice it to say we played roughly four shows while we were out there:
1. in the athletes village games room (ohhhh they were gaming alright…and we were playing…some watched curling…some played pool…others listened..it was a nice mixed bag)
We then went to the Manitoba Social that night at the Commodore Ballroom downtown and played with some of our new buddies…eagle and hawk…AND…inward eye….AND we ate cubed cheese…it was the real deal.
2. Whistler Live: that was fun…whistler is really pretty…and the people there were also pretty…we played before some coolll guyss named Wintersleep (their band was named that…not the men themselves) and watched some curling and hockey backstage..it was heated.
3. B.C Place for Manitoba Night: AHHH the security was k-razzzyyy! what a fun show though…the show consisted of us, doc walker, grand analog, tracy bone and inward eye…and we all put our hands in the middle in the name of spirited energy. That’s probably one of the biggest audiences we’ve ever played in front of so that made me sweat a lil’…not enough to get sweat stains on my brand new pink raw silk party dress though…thank the LAWD! We did see some real live medals that night though and stood on the only athletic podium i will ever stand on. I was generally the water girl in highschool for most sporting events…so i felt a sort of “in your face grade 9 volleyball” as i stood on the bronze medal area. It was a nice area.
4. AND LAST BUT NOT LEASSSTTT…we played LiveCity YaleTown in a downtown Vancouver chic gamine sandwich between Mat Mays (hilarious and talented men) and Blue Rodeo (holy kablu-eee can those men grip it and rip it…such a good show)…the crowd was great..the bands were great…we had an amazing time..it rained a bit…but it didn’t matter…after the show myself (alexa) and andrina celebrated our olympic experience by ravenously taking hold of the Jumbo-est Hot Dog that the canadian food tent had to offer…what a night.
SOOO that was a readers digest version of the olympic experience via Chic Gamine.
VERY readers digest….
highlights include:
1.Standing on the podium
2.Meeting great people
3.Being apart of the Olympic experience
4.Jumbo Hot Dogs.
OKAYYYYY so now back to working on the album….check out our pictures section…new pictures will be added as the week progresses…ALSO check out our youtube channel (www.youtube.com/chicgamine) and media section because there are a hailll of a lot of olympic/studio related videos that will be gettin’ up there shortly.
okaayyyy you all everybody.
love and have a good rest of your march.
it’s st.pattys day soon…what do people do for that? wear green?
drink green beer?
I think that might be the only day of the year that i decide NOT to wear my “kiss me i’m irish” turtle neck….it would just be too much/too many people thinking they could get a free mack…NOT my style. and lastly..it’s lying..because i’m not actually irish.
but do as you please…choose your own adventure…etc.
LOVE YOUS
team chic gamine
