we’re in the spirit of cats

when facebook asked me today :

“what are you thinking?”

i said :

this:

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

if that video doesn’t work click HERE to see what we mean.

That’s right…cats…singing…licking their microphones…all in the name of christmas.

i haven’t even started christmas shopping yet but what else is new. i’m thinking about just pasting a picture of myself to a stick and giving it to my mom.

just kidding i’ll buy a frame.

it’s cold in winnipeg right now.

i just put up a new show on our gigs page have you seen it? we’re playing the Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg on Jan.2nd with a bunch of other amazing Winnipeg bands accompanied by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

It’s called 2011: a space odyssey.

noooo nono it’s actually called 2011: The Concert. Go to our gigs page and it will give you more detail than i have the patience to write down in this blog. i would rather take up my space and your time with stuff that makes no sense.

what i mean is with stuff that MAKES more sense than anything else …like..for example…festive cats.

we’ll keep you posted on what’s up in the new year. but until then..buy a cd..it’s a great stocking stuffer even if it doesn’t fit in a normal person sized stocking. get some bigger ankles!

it’s okay though because in reality with all know that stockings are designed for stuff…not for actual feet..so they are naturally huge..but if we were back in the olden times/olden days (whatever you choose to refer to it as) then you would actually be nailing a real sock to your fire place…and where would that get you?

it would get you one kinder surprise and a battery..that’s all that could fit…and they didn’t even HAVE batteries back then..so it looks like it’s chocolate and a four piece puzzle for you!

well..that’s a nightmare i’m glad we don’t have to live in our life and times.

we’re thinking of you fondly this holiday season…and it’s not even december yet…so think about how much our fondness will grow in only a few short days!!!

LOVE YA’LL YA’LL

River Barge Festival in Winnipeg and also pre-sales coming so soon it hurts.

Hey friends,

so we’re getting the pre-sales all ready for the new album titled ‘city city’ that’s officially out October 12th….look for that in the next couple days because along with the pre-sale of the album come a few little perks that might interest you!

also we added a bunch of new tour dates that may tickle your pickle.

Something else to say would be this :

Chic Gamine will be playing on August 27th at the River Barge Festival in Winnipeg which will be taking place at the Forks.

here’s a little more info:

About the River Barge Festival:

Five days of celebration, entertainment and cultural experience are planned, free of charge, as a gathering for all of Winnipeg. Located at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers at the historic Forks, a barge will float along the river banks as audiences gather to enjoy the events in an atmosphere of fun and high expectation. The program will be pan-cultural, changing each day to include Aboriginal performance, representation from culturally diverse performing arts groups, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Manitoba Theatre Centre, other local and national favourites. This is an all-encompassing celebration that embraces popular culture, diversity and the performing arts.

More information, such as performer line-up and schedule, can be found on our website at:

http://www.artsforall.ca/index.php/AFA/article/the_river_barge_festival/

so check it out..i believe we’re playing at 7:45pm on the 27th and afterwards i will attach a sail to the barge and float down the river until i reach china.

SEE YOU ON THE 27TH!

What can i say?

this is what i can say…

in the past few months we’ve done so many things i never in my life thought i would be doing at the tender age of 22…

1.) playing at the olympics.

2.) going to france…playing there…and eating cheese that smells like armpits

3.)playing montreal jazzfest and loving my life

4.)getting a quote for our press kit : “i very much enjoyed your singing” - the queen of FRIGGIN’ england.

Those are some exciting points…i would say…and i wanted to share them with you.

It’s my birthday in a week and it’s given me time to reflect on my short but meaningful life…i’m not quite quarter life crisis material yet…but darn do i feel the mortality-reflecting-urge to buy a sports car right now!

Thanks for sticking by us fannies….and grannies…

Also we’re just packing up the van and heading to Harrison, B.C tomorrow for the Harrison Hot Springs Festival of the Art….if you’re in the area slap on your bathing suit and get ‘ur butt over there!

Then we do Mont St.Halaire, Quebec…and then we’re off to California Worldfest in Grass Valley,CA!!

Let us get it on.

okay well there have been construction workers on the roof of my building since around 6am and i’m ready to bust a cap…i don’t want this blog to go in an aggressive direction…so i’m going to get going.

team chic gamine

in the workshop/some new vids

Hey friends,

what’s new?

for us…we just got back from a gig in Salt Lake City at the community college where they were putting on a carnival celebrating the end of the year. There were beautiful mountains…cotton candy…clowns (some of us in this band are scared of clowns so that was a small obstacle)…free hot dogs…it was a regular jamboree over there…and now we’re home…when i got back to my home in winnipeg  i expected to at least see a magician or be greeted by someone willing to give me a balloon and paint my face…but no folks…the harsh realities of coming home from the road is that you don’t always get balloons like you do when you’re ON the road. (cast your votes TODAY for that last paragraph to win “the worst run-on sentence of your life” competition…)

I DIGRESS….here is what i’m really trying to say….

so chic gamine is still in the workshop ironing out the goodies for the new album….we’re so excited to get you in on this action!

In the meantime we’re heading to New Mexico on thursday where we’ll be playing at the University of New Mexico Tech in Soccoro on May 7th and thennnnn in Pacific Grove, Oregon in McCready Hall at the Pacific University on May 8th….road trip anyone?

there are some other things you can chew on while you wait for that new material i know youuuuuuuu’reee waitingggggg foooorrrr. (half of that sentence was put through a reverb machine…the other half wasn’t…can you guess which half?)

stuff like….these videos from the Radio Canada television show called “studio 12″ where we had the pleasure of collaborating with 7 other amazing artists….take a look….

chomp chomp chompppp…here’s us performing les echos with Bassist Brandi Diesterheft

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.
here’s a little fun one we did with Guillaume Arsenault
Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

have fun chomping 2010…..okay well we love you…and we’ll keep keeping you posted with more posts soon!

love is like a post-it note,

team chic gamine

a homage to the olympics that was and is and will always be. (pardon my fromage)

up up and away.

hey friends,

chic gamine here…a person on behalf of the unit actually.

SOOOO theres been some stuff going on called:
we were at the olympics at the end of February and had a kick donkey time.
I’m still kind of picking up the pieces of my brain from the experience. Some of them will forever be left in “Vancouver 2010″ or lost in the “I believe” theme song horn section that played whenever anything good or bad or inbetween happened…i still hear that song when i wake up in the morning.

Once we returned home we hopped right back on the road…played some really fun canadian dates…and then hopped right back to montreal (where we are currently) to continue working on our next album…currently…untitled.

BUTTT lest we forget the life and love that was the olympics…i would like to recap this fun for you…now.
(ALSO I JUST POSTED SOME NEW PICTURES IN THE “on the road” and “on the stage” section…so check that out…MORE NEW PICTURES TO COME as well.)

SOOO as i was saying the energy was crazy out there and we made a lot of new friends/saw real gold medals/also saw the people with white gloves that guard them.
it was high tech stuff over there.

suffice it to say we played roughly four shows while we were out there:
1. in the athletes village games room (ohhhh they were gaming alright…and we were playing…some watched curling…some played pool…others listened..it was a nice mixed bag)
We then went to the Manitoba Social that night at the Commodore Ballroom downtown and played with some of our new buddies…eagle and hawk…AND…inward eye….AND we ate cubed cheese…it was the real deal.

2. Whistler Live: that was fun…whistler is really pretty…and the people there were also pretty…we played before some coolll guyss named Wintersleep (their band was named that…not the men themselves) and watched some curling and hockey backstage..it was heated.

3. B.C Place for Manitoba Night: AHHH the security was k-razzzyyy! what a fun show though…the show consisted of us, doc walker, grand analog, tracy bone and inward eye…and we all put our hands in the middle in the name of spirited energy. That’s probably one of the biggest audiences we’ve ever played in front of so that made me sweat a lil’…not enough to get sweat stains on my brand new pink raw silk party dress though…thank the LAWD! We did see some real live medals that night though and stood on the only athletic podium i will ever stand on. I was generally the water girl in highschool for most sporting events…so i felt a sort of “in your face grade 9 volleyball” as i stood on the bronze medal area. It was a nice area.

4. AND LAST BUT NOT LEASSSTTT…we played LiveCity YaleTown in a downtown Vancouver chic gamine sandwich between Mat Mays (hilarious and talented men) and Blue Rodeo (holy kablu-eee can those men grip it and rip it…such a good show)…the crowd was great..the bands were great…we had an amazing time..it rained a bit…but it didn’t matter…after the show myself (alexa) and andrina celebrated our olympic experience by ravenously taking hold of the Jumbo-est Hot Dog that the canadian food tent had to offer…what a night.

SOOO that was a readers digest version of the olympic experience via Chic Gamine.
VERY readers digest….

highlights include:
1.Standing on the podium
2.Meeting great people
3.Being apart of the Olympic experience
4.Jumbo Hot Dogs.

OKAYYYYY so now back to working on the album….check out our pictures section…new pictures will be added as the week progresses…ALSO check out our youtube channel (www.youtube.com/chicgamine) and media section because there are a hailll of a lot of olympic/studio related videos that will be gettin’ up there shortly.

okaayyyy you all everybody.

love and have a good rest of your march.

it’s st.pattys day soon…what do people do for that? wear green?
drink green beer?

I think that might be the only day of the year that i decide NOT to wear my “kiss me i’m irish” turtle neck….it would just be too much/too many people thinking they could get a free mack…NOT my style. and lastly..it’s lying..because i’m not actually irish.

but do as you please…choose your own adventure…etc.

LOVE YOUS
team chic gamine
