manitoba you’re tough…and we love you.

Well it’s the day after the Winnipeg Folkfest wrapped and boy do i feel blissfully exhausted!

Here is a list i comprised to show you in point form (kind of point form…i’ve never been good at keeping things short) what this years festival consisted of:

1. Lots of rain.
It rained for nearly two days straight and was cold and damp and stormy and on a scale from one to uncomfortably cold i would say i was about an 8 for the most part.
2. Awesome people.
People that toughed it out and danced their hearts out even though they could barely feel their feet. The festival still went on and people came out in their rain gear and great spirits and partied like it was 1999 and sunny.
3. Great bands.
We did some killer workshops and made a lot of new friends in the process. (awwwwwwww) Manitoba has some awesome talent…but you already knew that didn’t you? Check out the festival line up and get to know some new bands…you will not not not not not be disappointed! When we weren’t playing we got to see some awesome shows….Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 will stick out as a personal highlight…holy mother was it good.
4. Camping against all odds.
Some of us chic gamine-rs were crazy enough to rough it out for the weekend and parked our little patooties in the campgrounds every night….good thing my tent was waterproof/didn’t break in the wind..mother nature sure did kick the crap out of some tents.
5. General beauty and awesomeness.
Sunday came and with it came the sun and lots of happy people. What a great way to wrap up the festival…finally sunny!

There is so much more i could say about the folkfest weekend…but i’m not sure i have enough words in my vocabulary to describe how great it is/was. Maybe I should really start thinking about secondary education…just kidding. but really…it was beyond greatness.

Thanks to everybody that came out to see us play and were so encouraging! We love the festival and are so honored that we got to play it!

Also just to let you all know you will be able to purchase our album ONLINE (on our website to be exact www.chicgamine.com) very very very soon…we’ll keep you updated as to when it becomes available…until then you can pick it up in Winnipeg at music trader, into the music, candor books, a la page, and other stores that are nice enough to sell our cd
…hopefully we’ll be “coming to a city near you” soon…otherwise keep checking back for more chic gamine news!
we heart you people. know that…we heart you.

LOVE
