Here at chic gamine headquarters we are currently putting our cds together. Why do you ask would we need to put our cds together like this?

great question.

We are grass roots like that. Very hands on. Putting the right amount of love into each small package.

Speaking of small packages. Did you know that tornados slash wind storms REALLY love us and can wreck your house and all your merch?
Well we know first hand about the merch part.

This weekend we played at the Omaha Summer Arts Festival in downtown Omaha. The festival was great as well as all the people we met. However the weather didnt seem to enjoy our company all that much.

We were set to play two shows and on our first day we had all our gear and merch (ie. 130 cds) set up on the out door stage. Just as we were about to sound check we heard the city tornado sirens go off. Which for prairie girls is eerie and mysterious in itself…especially after watching the late 90s blockbuster hit twister on syndicated television (GO DOROTHY!).

Anyways the sirens wailed and we were promptly evacuated into the basement parking lot where we were told the storm would quickly pass over us.
Three packages of beef bark and one hour later we were still in the basement.
Finally they set us free to survey the aftermath. And boy was it ugly math…i knew i never enjoyed math. …

Power lines were down, pepsi products littered the streets, massive bricks that were holding the tent down were scattered and our outdoor stage had plummeted and flipped into the nearby building, breaking a window on the second floor. Luckily it seemed that no one was injured. But then we went to look for our merch and our equipment. To our surprise we found some of our cds a block away full of water. Once we got closer to the stage we couldn’t help but laugh (so that we wouldn’t cry)..all our gear was full of water…some of our percussion instruments were broken and not only that all 130 of our beloved cds could now grow sea monkeys in their plastic casings. We rung the water out of our cardboard cases and decided to try and salvage what we could.

We ended up using the cds themselves (hotel towel dried!) and sold them the next day as limited tornado edition copies.
